Autumn's Bounty

Fall has officially arrived, though you wouldn't know it here in Jersey, where it's the opposite of crisp and cool--more like soggy and muggy. But a little humidity won't get in the way of my favorite Saturday morning activity, a visit to our local farmers' market:

Yes, beets. The gold ones are unbelievable when roasted in aluminum foil, a sweet and earthy cocktail for your taste buds. For the men in my house, I sauté the greens with olive oil and garlic. And I never leave without dessert:
